Baby Kac Blog: Jordan age 6

Jordan turned 6 last month and it's been a milestone with lots of visible change.

Physical stats from the Doc were:

Weight: 55.5 lbs (89%)
Height: 46 in (61%)

He started Kindergarten in September and although he's always gone to 'school' (daycare) and is no stranger to structure, we can tell it's maturing him. He goes to a bilingual school where they learn Spanish and English so it's even more work than normal.

I left our first parent/teacher conference last week completely shocked and proud. Jordan is apparently the top of the class and a great leader. I feel like I don't get to brag about him too much since he gives us such a hard time, but to hear that he exceeds in school and is well liked by the kids and teachers made my year. They mentioned that he does get impatient and works very fast so when he's done he needs to work on focusing and channeling energy into something positive and productive (he didn't turn into an angel overnight!) but that they have no worries at all. They told us he's ahead of the curve with reading, but we are yet to see him read much at home so we'll work on that. He's a dynamic force and we can't wait to see what he makes of himself.

At home, we see longer periods of him being a good older brother. He'll actually help us with Drew or stay completely out of it if Drew is being bad which is positive a big difference than how he acted before. He'll engage playing with Drew a lot more now that Drew can keep up and every so often we have moments where everyone is happy. For the other times we separate or there is always the old faithful iPad!

Things he's into:

Still loves superheros - right now Ant Man is his favorite.
Sill loves all things scary and is really into the new Goosebumps movie which he saw twice and watches and reads all the old Goosebumps books (we read him the chapter books).
Loves art and drawing even more - at school they noted his excellent art skills.
He just finished up soccer and although he wasn't as into as the spring he still says he loves it.
He's been taking Tai Kwon Doe every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon with friends and just got his yellow belt.

For Jordan's birthday we celebrated at home with a dozen or so of his friends. We hired a ballon artist and face painter and had halloween themed decorations including a piñata. Everyone came dressed up and they decorated pumpkins.
