Last month we had a relitively stress-free trip to Ikea where we picked out a set of big-boy-bunkbeds for him. We built just the top half for now since it had the guards around it and Jordan's bedroom is still really just an infant room. Eventually he'll move to the first floor and we'll set-up the full bunk-bed set.
There was no real urgency or rush to do this. Jordan loved his crib, but he had gotten too comfortable climbing in and out of it to get things. He'd fall a lot doing this, nothing dramatic, but there was no point in the crib anymore.
He loves the new bed and doesn't get out of it which we credit to the fact that he's been sleeping on a cot for years at daycare. Jordan is 'challenging' in many ways, but he's always been a good sleeper so for that I am thankful because I love my 8 hours of uninterupted sleep.
The rediculous part about this 'big boy' image is that he still uses a pacifier at night. It's the only time he's allowed to have it, but he's a full on paci addict. We've talked about it needing to go away, but it's the most magical thing to see him going mock 10 and then we say "bedtime Jordan, time for paci and lion" and he races into the room to be rewarded with his drug. I know I'm the one holding onto it and reluctant to let it go...we'll deal with it soon (sigh).
The other milestone in becoming a 'big boy' is potty training. We started talking about it when Jordan turned 2. We bought the seat inserts and we'd practice sitting there and we'd talk about rewards. Now, at 2.5, he refuses to even try it anymore and could care less - so we are going officially no where with potty training as of now. This photo is a joke.
The good news is that none of the other boys in his room (ages 2-3) are potty trained either so he's not alone (all of the girls are of course). He will have to be trained to move into the 'Seniors' room and I know daycare will do 90% of the work to get him there. I'll just do what they tell me when they say he's ready. Right now it's hard to imagine we'll ever be out of diapers (whine).
