A month late but finally up – photos from our February trip to Boston to celebrate Yia Yia’s 60th birthday. Papou and Auntie Kelly organized a really nice evening and rented out a private room at a local restaurant. We celebrated with about 50 of Yia Yia’s closest friends and family. A family member from Kelly’s side played the guitar and sang which added to the ambiance. On top of having great company and delicious food, Yia Yia put together a video of her life complete with narration (surprise surprise). Everyone was moved. Uncle Adam and Jay gave a perfect roast/toast that had everyone laughing. There was only one minor glitch…
Grandmothers are notoriously nervous; I’m constantly being told to “put a jacket on Jordan” or to “watch him he’s going to fall!”. I always answer with a snarky comment or a roll of my eyes because helicopter parent I am not. This time my Mom was worried about the brick fireplace at the party. For most of the night she stood by it as the safety police, but eventually had to sit down to dinner. I kid you not when the SECOND Jordan got up from the table and started to run towards it my Mom yells “watch him by the fireplace!” and he goes face-first, smack into the corner of it. Not to worry, fast forward to 30 minutes afterwards and he was fine. There was a lot of blood and drama and crying but he did not loose any teeth and his brain is in tact. You’ll see his fat lip and chin all scratched up in the photos. Poor little crazy monkey.
So besides the bloody drama, it was a wonderful trip and best of all at 16 months he was still excellent on the plane and slept the entire way.
